Nadia Brown

Research Assistant

Enrolled in her fourth year at Rutgers University, Ms. Nadia Brown is pursuing her Ph. D in political science where her major field is Women and Politics.  Ms. Brown studies Black politics through a feminist lens.  Her dissertation explores the complexities of representing the intersections of race, gender, and class in policy deliberations by investigating how Black female office holders legislate ‘intersectional issues’ that are pertinent to members of marginally disadvantaged subgroups at the national, state, and local levels.Nadia Brown holds the distinction of being an Eagleton Fellow where she was a Government Fellow for the 2004-2005 school year.  In this capacity Ms. Brown interned for now State Senator Loretta Weinberg.  Nadia Brown has presented at numerous academic conferences and has a co-authored chapter in Political Women and Democracy on exclusionary practices towards women of color in her subfield.
